Radios

One of the items that we would like everyone to have is a radio so the breakdown and starburst can happen quicker and smoother.

After checking into several models we have found a couple that will work. Both are sold at Walmart for
$24-$29 per pair. (2 people can share a pack)

Uniden GMR638-2CK
Audivox GMRS602CH

Other types may also work as long as they have the following specifications

1) 22 channels X 38 "Privacy Codes"
2) Headphone/Earphone jack
3) Keypad locking feature
4) No more than a 6 Mile Range

You will also need to get a headphone to mount in your helmet. The Coby style can be found at Walmart or Biglots for around $1. If the jack is not compatible you can go to Radioshack and get an adapter for around $3.

The headphone will only transmit through one earpiece.  You should cut the other side off so you will have one side of your helmet open which will allow you to hear any verbal commands in the event your radio fails.

Those coming to CSS please try and get your system set up and working so we can test it there.
